Sarah, this was lovely to read. I landed here in the strangest way! I put on an old ep of the Chris Gethard Show to keep me company while I answer some emails- I dunno, that's just the mood I've been in this week. After the episode I chose ended, YouTube auto-played the next one (Public Access 14, The Drawing Pictures Episode), I'm only half paying attention, but then Chris talks about a person who messaged him on Twitter about his musical guests. He even says their username (!) and mentions their food blog. For some reason—email-induced boredom, I guess—I decided to look up the account. Not that it would still be active after all these years, except wait yes it is, and it's your co-author Rebecca. Well then of course I had to click the substack link in her bio, and I couldn't believe it when this essay popped up- I was obsessed with spinART back in the day. I haven't thought about this in years, but I played so many Apples in Stereo songs on my high school radio show. I talked my parents into letting me take a bus to Providence to see Small Factory! I'm very sorry to hear of Joel's passing. He (and you, and everyone at the label) brought a lot of joy to the world in general, and me in particular. I'm glad I took that random walk through the internet tonight, and I'm looking forward to reading through the archives- I love soup and (try to) tolerate despair. <3

I felt so badly that I made Gethard so upset! Even thinking about it now pains me!
